Through Their Eyes: A Strategic Response to the National Achievement Gap reveals the thoughts of 971 students, parents, and educators as they discuss why African American children are failing academically.  An analysis of the 1,400 responses reveals that there are five barriers preventing students from being academically successful. The book discusses these five barriers through the eyes of students, parents and educators.
